2015: Visual Arts in Culture, Christian Life, & Worship | Praying with the Eyes

February 6-7, 2015

All Saints 2015 Cross & Culture Series examined and celebrated the vital role that the visual arts play in culture, Christian life, and worship. We began Friday night at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Auditorium with a dinner reception and gallery followed by a talk from guest speaker David Taylor.

In his talk and in a Q&A with renowned Christian artist, Sandra Bowden, David explored why we do not see the world rightly just by opening our eyes and how visual artists, working in both two- and three-dimensional media, can help us to see the world as God sees it, and to know it, to love it, and to live faithfully in it as Christ calls us to know, love and live in our neighborhoods and cities, and likewise enables us to do so by his Spirit.

The event continued Saturday evening with a gallery opening at Austin Oaks Church featuring an exhibit of both All Saints artists' and Sandra Bowden's work curated by Ginger Geyer.
