Serve In The Church at All Saints

Serve in the Church

In-Person Worship Cancelled

Due to a citywide directive from Austin Mayor, Steve Adler, All Saints has cancelled in-person worship for March 15 and March 22. We are live streaming worship services at 10AM on our YouTube channel.

Since we do not need volunteers for Sunday worship, consider how you might serve in a different way during this unique time.

Below are just a few ways to serve the community of All Saints. Not only for ourselves but also that we may serve others in Austin and around the world. If you have a heart to serve or gifts that you are able to use within the church, please let us know. Contact Sonya Menges with an area in which you would like to serve, or fill out this form, and Sonya will have the appropriate person contact you.

Sunday Mornings

Communion Prep

Communion Prep volunteers serve once every 6-8 weeks, and prepare the bread and wine elements for communion. Volunteers for the 9:15 AM service arrive an hour before the service, and stay afterwards to help clean up and re-set for the next service. Volunteers for the 11:00 AM service arrive 45 minutes early and stay after the service to fully clean up. Communion Prep volunteers must be able to lift heavy trays and work on their feet for the hour before and hour after the service. This is an important behind-the-scenes opportunity to serve.

Safety Team

Safety Team volunteers are a part of our Greeter Team, and typically serve once every 6-8 weeks at the service time of their preference (9:15 AM or 11:00 AM), for the entire service.

You are the first face of All Saints to newcomers and to members, and serve a valuable role in keeping our community safe with simple observation and communication.

Greeter Team

Greeter Team volunteers typically serve once every 6-8 weeks at the service time of their preference (9:15 AM or 11:00 AM), and are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the service. Volunteers welcome folks with a warm smile at our information table, while handing out bulletins, or just shaking hands in the narthex. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, couples, and families to serve together.

Ushers

Ushers typically serve 3-4 times per semester at the service time of their preference (9:15 AM or 11:00 AM) and are asked to arrive 30 minutes early.

Usher duties include: Passing out bulletins, helping with seating the elderly and latecomers if needed, and managing the service (i.e. headcount, man the doors, usher communion, offertory, collect welcome pads, clean up).

Communion Ushers

Communion ushers typically serve once every 6-8 weeks, and do not need to arrive before the service begins. Communion ushers are integral to maintaining a hospitable and efficient flow of the communion service.

CONTACT: Sonya Menges for more details.

Offertory

Offertory volunteers typically serve once every 6-8 weeks at the service time of their preference (9:15 AM or 11:00 AM), and are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the service. This is a great opportunity for teens to serve on Sunday mornings.

Choir

All Saints choir invites singers of all ages to participate with us in Sunday worship. Choir volunteers serve for one service (9:15 AM or 11:00 AM) a week, plus a one-hour mid-week rehearsal.

  • Rehearsal Wednesday night at 7:30 PM
  • Some prior choir experience is suggested.
