KRIS & PAULA LUNDGAARD

The Lundgaards in Slovakia

  • Partner Since: 2007
  • Slovakia

For ten years before moving to Slovakia, the Lundgaards worshiped at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Austin, which planted All Saints in 2003. But since 2007, the Lundgaards have lived in Slovakia.

After five years working with the MTW church plant in Trnava, Slovakia, Kris and Paula Lundgaard moved to another village in 2013 to be surrounded by Slovak people, language, and culture, in order to focus on their language skills between ministry assignments.

In October 2014, Kris and Paula will move to Nitra, Slovakia, to help develop a small congregation. Kris will mentor a pastoral intern and help develop a biblical education center from a reformed perspective (something unique in Slovakia). He will also mentor another young man who is interested in future ministry. Paula will mentor several young mothers in the core group and help them develop a mommy club that will reach out into the community. Although they will not move to Nitra till October, work on the biblical training center began in January: Kris travels once a month to Nitra to teach on Saturday mornings and preach on Sunday.

Kris and Paula ask for your prayers for their language study as well as their monthly work in Nitra. They also ask you to pray for the church in Nitra as this small band of brothers and sisters struggles to take come big steps of faith—they have a big vision for such a small church. Yet we serve a mighty God.

Members of All Saints have joined their efforts in 2009, 2010, and 2012 to assist a local Slovak church in putting on English camps for the youth in the community. The Lundgaards are part of a larger team with Mission to the World that has been working in the Slovak Republic since 1997.

Kris and Paula have four children: Nicholas is married and lives in Houston, Karen is married and lives in Austin, Kristian is studying engineering at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, and Ethan is studying computer science at Austin Community College.
